The objective of this WP is to o develop roadmap studies for the research, deployment and regulatory activities in this field. It will define the strategic priorities, including socio economic aspects, for the development of off-shore renewable energy conversion platforms in the context of an integrated European maritime policy.
Description of work:
The objective of this WP is to develop roadmap and strategies for the research, deployment and regulatory activities in this field, building on the outputs of other work packages. It will define the strategic priorities, including socio economic aspects, for the development of offshore renewable energy conversion platforms in the context of an integrated European maritime policy. One focus will be on extrapolating a set of key recommendations, to be provided to the European Commission and to policy makers, on the relevant research actions, as well as relevant policies, which will favour the development of the off-shore conversion platform in Europe in the incoming years.
Using experience from previous European road mapping activities in other sectors and the UKERC marine energy sector roadmap ORECCA will explore and realise the opportunities through the facilitation of a knowledge and research structure that will accelerate the development of the off-shore Renewable Energy industry through an effective forward strategy. This strategy is intended to lead to specific research cooperation and both knowledge and technology transfer in Europe. The WP will deliver integrated roadmap documents, each addressing one of the stakeholder groups. These will contain the definition of the strategic investment opportunities, the R&D priorities and the regulatory and socio-economics aspects that need to be addressed in the short to the medium time to achieve a vision and a strategy for a European policy towards the development of the
